BRIAN JONES, Landscape and Portrait Artist based in Mid Wales using original oils onto canvas.

Brian has recently taken part in the BBC program "Welsh Greats" which was based on the life story of Laura Ashley.

After much persuasion this is the first time that Brian Jones, one of Mid Wales's most popular Artists has exhibited his much sought after oil paintings on the internet. Over the years Brian's passion for art has led him to build up a vast knowledge of different painting techniques, which can clearly be seen in his collection of paintings.

Brian Jones's professional career was as a Textile Designer, spending many years working in the design studio's of Laura Ashley which was based in Carno and also Newtown, Mid Wales. He is very proud that the print designs he created whilst working for her, can be seen all over the world and are as popular now as they were in the twentieth century.

His years of professional experience as a print designer, mainly working in fine line and minute detail, are now incorporated into his delicate and attractive paintings. Brian is a romantic at heart and he is very much influenced by the beautiful countryside of Mid Wales.

The magical light of dawn and dusk suffuses his work, with a sharpness of imaginary and universality of appeal, which resulted in his collection "Moments in Time" being featured on the Welsh Arts programme "The Slate".

Hafren Gallery Exhibition Private Viewing - September 2019 This, my latest exhibition has taken three years to complete. As usual I have tried to include a wealth of pattern and detail woven into each painting, comprising hundreds of hours of intense painting, including experimentation, some moments of frustration and many moments of pure joy. I try to convey the energy and vibrancy of each scene, as well as trying to achieve a sense of calm. I love the idea of communication aspects that might not at first be obvious. The more you look, the more you see, hopefully the completed painting contains heart and soul, including a small piece of my life.

Over the last few years Brian has had a series of highly successful exhibitions at the Hafren Gallery. His latest collection of paintings were oil on canvas and gave him the opportunity to paint a wealth of inspirational scenery, capturing the exquisite colouring and moods of the Mid Wales countryside. He used this opportunity to recreate some of his favourite paintings from past shows and introduced a series of hand embellished prints to compliment the original paintings. The whole exhibition was designed to take you on a seasonal journey through our surrounding countryside, capturing some very special moments.

Robert Owen Museum, Newtown

Robert Owen was one of the most influential thinkers and social reformers of his time. The Robert Owen Museum in Newtown, Montgomeryshire houses a collection of objects, pictures and written material relating to the life of Robert Owen. The Museum tells Owen's story and is in the centre of Newtown just a few feet from where Owen was born.
